CHRIS COAD TAYLOR writes multiple genres, which include suspense/mystery, psychological thrillers, romantic/suspense, and a few non-fiction books. Her fictional style of writing is character-driven, which makes her books as diverse as the people within them, allowing her readers an intensely personal connection to the stories.
She follows the beliefs of the late film director Alfred Hitchcock. He believed that “your audience does not need bloody details”—and that “suspense builds better in the minds of your audience.”
Taylor gives only enough detail to the crimes in her novels, while planting clues along the way. Romantic scenes are written with enough spice to keep you captivated, yet not too much that you’re embarrassed to read them.

The writing style is partly guided by genre; however, an author’s voice is the unique way only they tell the story. Voice is found in narrative, pacing, and description style, and all are shaped by an author’s vision, soul, and experiences in life. No two are the same, and each author is evolving day by day. Only by reading many authors can you begin to find your favorites, and you’ll find the list will keep growing.
Chris Coad Taylor’s voice is deeply personal, emotional, and often fast-paced. She does not spoon-feed any information to the reader because she understands her readers are highly intelligent and are well-versed. You will not find information dumps at the end of her mysteries. She writes realistically, and her novels have satisfying conclusions without fairytale endings.
Currently, she has two series: The Amber series (set in Ybor City and Tampa), which is high-tension suspense, mystery reading.
The Havenridge Mystery series is set in a small town in Georgia and written in the women’s fiction genre with a twist of mystery. The setting is a slower pace, with a focus on friendships, bonding relationships, and mystery elements. They are good beach reads.
Each of Taylor’s novel series is different. She also has some non-fiction books available. All different genres, with her unique voice in each.
